INTIMATE WAXING: SECRETS FOR AN IMPECCABLE RESULT
23 July, 2024
The bikini area is one of the most challenging areas to treat from both the professional's and the client's perspectives, and it is one of the most requested services in waxing overall.
First and foremost, it is a very intimate area for our client, so it is crucial to maintain her privacy during the procedure. Always work with a lot of discretion and delicacy, giving the client time to change into disposable garments and carefully preparing the workspace. Ensure the environment is calm, clean, well-lit, and equipped with towels to cover the client, providing a sense of relaxation and security.
The hair in the bikini or groin area is very dense and thick, combined with the high sensitivity of the skin. All these factors mean that, as professionals in aesthetics and wellness, we need to be more careful when working and take the necessary time for this service. We cannot rush and work against the clock.
Tips for Performing a Waxing Treatment and Beauty Care in the Groin Area:
If we notice the skin is very sensitive, it's important to use Starpil’s Acid Cream, which contains allantoin, a fast-acting epidermal regenerant, and a skin pH stabilizer.
If clients frequently suffer from superficial folliculitis, ingrown hairs, or post-shave issues, recommend Starpil’s Hair Puller.

Tips for Performing a Waxing Treatment and Beauty Care in the Groin Area:
- Wear Vinyl Gloves: Just like in all body areas, work with vinyl gloves.
- Allocate Adequate Time: Set aside approximately 30-40 minutes to work calmly in this area.
- Use Low-Melting Point Waxes: We recommend using our low-fusion waxes, which are very gentle on the skin. For the groin area, we recommend Blue Film, Coral, Glitter Wax, Pink Film, and Calendula.
- Monitor Wax Temperature: Ensure the wax does not drip or become liquid. Low-fusion wax should be applied at 50-55 ºC, allowing control of the wax on the spatula and ensuring it does not burn.
- Client Positioning: Ask the client to place her legs in a butterfly position (bent and outward) to create tension in the skin to be waxed.
- Skin Preparation: Clean and prepare the skin with Starpil’s Gel Prepil, using a minimal amount. Gel Prepil cleans and prepares the skin for waxing.
- Wax Application Technique: Always start working from the outside in, gradually and delicately. Place your hand over the area when removing the wax strip to minimize discomfort.
- Petal Technique: Begin with medium petal technique, forming small wax strips in the shape of petals.
- Brush Stroke Technique: For difficult hair, use the “brush stroke” technique, applying wax in small strokes over remaining hair groups. This technique is perfect for achieving a straight and clean pubic area edge.
- Small Wax Strips for Inner Areas: Work with small wax strips in more internal areas, always stretching the surrounding skin. If needed, ask for the client’s help to ensure safety and comfort.
- Post-Waxing Care: The skin may remain slightly red with small red dots, which is normal due to the hair's thickness and the mechanical traction exerted during waxing.
- Post-Waxing Cosmetics: Apply Starpil’s Mousse Retardante Post Epil for a fresh, hydrated, and regenerative feeling.

- If the client experiences superficial folliculitis due to predisposition, apply Starpil’s Hair Puller immediately after waxing. It contains salicylic acid, an exfoliating, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory agent. After application, you can apply the chosen post-waxing cosmetic over the area.
- For first-time wax clients, often young women with dense hair and a lower pain threshold, be especially gentle and communicate the treatment steps thoroughly to provide reassurance and confidence.
